“IRS Analyst Charged With Illegally Leaking Michael Cohen’s Bank Records,” The Wall Street Journal, February 22, 2019.  The IRS employee allegedly leaked the materials to Stormy Daniels’ lawyer on or about May 8, 2018.

Information governance requires information (here, the confidential government records), controls (here, a law prohibiting disclosure), and enforcement (here, a prosecution).

Does the publication of this prosecution increase or decrease the effectiveness of the controls?
