Protecting the security of your company’s information

In this world where people exchange and store all manner of information over their cell phones, how does the information owner protect the security of that information?

“FBI Tests Its Ability To Unlock More Devices,” The Wall Street Journal, April 1, 2016, B1.  If people from off the street could rifle through your file cabinets, would you be concerned?  Would you buy a more secure file cabinet?  How does Apple respond?  How important to the consumer are privacy and information security?  What obligations do the officers and directors have to take reasonable steps to prevent the loss of corporate information assets?
