“On the Farm: A Bountiful Harvest of Data,” The Wall Street Journal, September 1, 2015 B1. Farmers start self-collection of information generated by their operations, rather than allowing large companies (i.e., Monsanto, Deere, etc.) to gather it. The large companies say it’s the farmers’ information and they’re just analyzing it for the farmers’ benefit. The farmers may be looking to capture the economic value of that information.
What if consumers did this? Charged companies for the use of the consumer’s information?
