Noise and knees

I could have written on “J.P. Morgan Hackers Tried at Other Banks,” Wall Street Journal, October 7, 2014 C1. But that’s not really news.

I was struck by another story: “Sudden Noises May Lead to Knee Injuries,” Wall Street Journal, October 7, 2014 D4.  Is this information governance?  I don’t know, but it struck me as an interesting point on communication.  The body’s response to a startling noise makes it more difficult for your knee to bend.

This raises the question, “Does the volume and method of message delivery affect the recipient’s receptiveness to the message?”  Is it only our knees that respond differently to sharp sounds?  Is it only sharp sounds?
