Speedy shipments require lengthy interviews

A company’s culture is an important factor in a company’s performance on many levels, including day-to-day efficiency, reputation, and compliance.  The Board is responsible, some say, for establishing and maintaining the culture of the company.  If not them, then who?

Horatio (or Horatius) fought Etruscans at the bridge in 510BC and saved Rome.  Well, at Amazon, certain people have been delegated the function of preserving the culture by vetoing (or approving) new hires.  Leads to an exhaustive hiring process.

What steps does your company take to preserve its culture?  How important is “fit”?
